We are delighted to present our new CD, the fruit of our Cardoso450 project, which presents two Masses by the Carmelite composer Frei Manuel Cardoso recorded for the first time. Both these Masses are based on motets by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina; this ‘parody’ technique commonly used in the Renaissance, often as a mark of respect for the composer whose music was being ‘borrowed’.

You can read Simon Lloyd’s notes on the music here.
